Sandy.jpg

Film Maker and Creative Thinker with over 12 Years film making experience.

The majority of my working life has been spent in the voluntary sector: making home visits, running workshops, listening to people, evaluating projects, planning events and activities and generally inspiring others to make changes or take action.

I have an ongoing interest in health and have completed courses in Understanding Health Improvement and Mental Health First Aid (Youth).

I have volunteered with the NHS as a Health Buddy and Champion and for Saneline as a telephone counsellor.

I am an Affiliated Partner for Research and Implementation and a Theme Champion and member of the Wessex Involvement in Service Research & Delivery Group and the Wessex Public Involvement Network. I am on the management Board for the PALS study and ARC Wessex and have recently been involved in a qualitative research project into a coronavirus saliva test.

I was a founding member of the Isle of Wight Film Network and was on the selection panel for the Isle of Wight Film Festival.

I have co-facilitated documentary film making courses and run introductory workshops on using mobile phones for video production.

I work in communications for Community Action IW, a charity that supports the voluntary sector on the IOW, so I keep up to date with news and developments in this sector and have a good understanding of and connections with the VS locally.

I am also a Director of ShademakersUK CIC and Wight to Be Happy who run the IW Festival of the Mind.

I have been film editing since 2006. I have worked on  projects ranging from events, documentaries, promotions and evaluations, using both my own footage and that of others.

I enjoy telling a story through film, and believe film can be a powerful medium to create a feeling, emotion about a project that can't be done in any other way. It's a really powerful way to tell a

story.

Its the same with art, It also tells a story to the viewer and makes a memory for the person doing it, it can also be very mindful.

I love passing on skills an empowering people weather that's by using film to tell their story or picking up a pen and making art.

I come from an artistic background, having trained in the nineties as a furniture designer and restorer.

I have always loved photography so the move to the moving image was a natural one.

I also work as an artist and designer for Seabell Artisan.

I always love a new creative challenge and see film making as any of being creative and telling peoples stories

I have always been creative, it’s a big part of my DNA as is travelling and a love of nature. I am happiest outdoors exploring with my camera and a sketchpad. I find beauty in what I see around me and I connect others to that feeling. I believe creativity brings us into the moment it’s a route to mindfulness through the meditation of focus…being in that moment, in the flow.

I am an artist, designer, photographer, creative director and mindset coach. All of these roles have bought me to a place where I help others to direct their own lives and manifest their dreams whilst clearing their physical, emotional and environmental space. This is where my digital artworks come in to play, bringing my love of design and photography into their homes.

After teaching for 25 years in Primary and Middle Schools on the Isle of WIght, I am now delighted to be part of the Sassy team.

I have long felt the benefits of being part of community groups on my mental health; being a member of Solent Netball Club and also a keen parkrunner and parkrun volunteer. It is however, only more recently that I have seen the real benefits of creativity on well being and mental health

I am passionate about helping other people realise these benefits by helping them connect creatively.
